The alliance, valid for five years, will allow the development of joint projects in research, training, consulting and knowledge transfer to address the challenges of climate change.

The Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology (UMECIT) and the company Asesoría, Gestión e Ingeniería Ambiental SAS (AGI Ambiental), signed a framework cooperation agreement in September 2026 with which they seek to unite academic knowledge, research and technical experience to face the challenges of climate change and advance towards a more sustainable development.

The document was signed by the rector of UMECIT, José Alberto Nieto, and by the legal representative of AGI Ambiental, Martha Juliana Ordóñez Galán. Under the agreement, both organizations will be able to jointly carry out research projects, training programs, consulting services, and knowledge transfer initiatives aimed at strengthening capacities and promoting solutions to environmental problems.

From knowledge to action

The central purpose of the alliance is to transform knowledge into action and action into positive impact. To this end, the parties plan to create opportunities for communities, organizations, and territories to strengthen their capacities, adopt more sustainable practices, and be better prepared to respond to the effects of climate change.

A contribution to a more resilient Panama

With this agreement, UMECIT and AGI Ambiental assume a joint commitment to building a more resilient and sustainable Panama, in which cooperation, science and technical expertise translate into solutions with environmental, social and economic benefits.

The initiative stems from a shared conviction: tackling climate change requires combining knowledge, capabilities, and action to generate positive impacts on people and territories.
