UMECIT strengthens its academic presence at the VI National Congress on Occupational Safety and Health

During the days of Friday 14 and Saturday 15 of August, the VI National Congress of Occupational Safety and Health was held in Panama, an important academic and inter-institutional meeting that brought together specialists, professionals and researchers from the sector to share knowledge, experiences and perspectives on the main challenges of safety and health in work environments.

The activity aimed to promote the exchange of experiences, analyze regulatory trends and contribute to strengthening a preventive culture, with a vision oriented towards safer, more inclusive and sustainable work environments.

Representing the Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology -UMECIT- was a delegation led by Prof. Ricaurte Bethancourt, Coordinator of Occupational Safety and Health, along with a group of 10 students from different campuses of the University.

One of the highlights of this participation was the inclusion of graduates from the virtual modality, whose presence brought a diversity of experiences and perspectives to the meeting, also demonstrating the scope of the institution's training programs and its ability to connect professionals from different contexts.

Academic and professional contribution

UMECIT's participation went beyond the training field with the intervention of Master Yelitza González, Director of Extension, who participated as a speaker with the conference "Health and Safety at Work with a Gender Focus".

Their participation allowed for the incorporation into the debate of a fundamental perspective to understand the current challenges of occupational safety and health, promoting a more comprehensive vision of work environments and the conditions that favor the well-being of workers.

Likewise, the outstanding participation of UMECIT graduates made it possible to showcase their professional skills and their preparation to operate in spaces of analysis, exchange and discussion of national scope.

Academia, professionals and the productive sector

The presence of students, teachers, and graduates in these types of settings reaffirms UMECIT's commitment to training linked to the real needs of the professional environment.

These spaces represent an opportunity for our university community to continue learning, sharing knowledge and contributing to the development of solutions to contemporary challenges in occupational safety and health.

Participation in the VI National Congress of Occupational Safety and Health also strengthens the link between the University and its graduate professionals, consolidating an academic community that continues to grow and contribute to the country from different areas of action.

For UMECIT, training professionals capable of actively participating in the conversations that transform their sectors is an essential part of its commitment to relevant, innovative education connected to the national reality.
