UMECIT magazines receive recognition from the Latindex Network at a gala night at the University of Panama
Magazines Chair and Speakers of the Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology -UMECIT– received recognition in the Sustainability Category for the second year of reassessment, from the 2.0 catalog of the Latindex Network, within the framework of the V catwalk of scientific publications, organized by the University of Panama.
Both Cathedra and Oratores received endorsement in 38 editorial criteria of the 38 evaluated. Cathedra magazine was recognized for visits to the site from the United States, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, China, among others. For its part, Oratores magazine was highlighted for the most consulted article, just as it was "Professional teaching ethics for better job performance".
Under the Overcoming Category of the Panindex indexer, the Cathedra, Dialogus, Oratores and Saluta magazines of our House of Studies received an important distinction. UMECIT congratulates and highlights the important work of the authors and editorial teams of all our publications available on the Portal of scientific journals (revistas.umecit.edu.pa). The important recognition of the production of academic scientific journals was carried out at the presentation ceremony of the V Pasarela de Publicaciones Científicas within the framework of the International Summer School 2023 season of the University of Panama.
The recognition event for the award-winning journals of our House of Studies was attended by Dr. Claudia Marcela Rueda Ossa, General Vice-Rector; Dr. Maria Piedad Nieto Rojas, Administrative Vice Chancellor; Dr. Magdy De las Salas, director of research, Innovation and Graduate Studies and Dr. Gino Osellame, professor at the Faculty of Law and Forensic Sciences and editor of Revista Cathedra.
Cathedra is a semi-annual magazine, where specialized scientific articles in the area of Law and Forensic Sciences are published. For its part, Oratores is a multidisciplinary scientific journal, covering a broad subject in which research articles and theoretical review are published every six months.
The event's welcome remarks were given by the Vice Chancellor for Research and Postgraduate Studies at the University of Panama, Dr. Jaime Gutierrez, who recalled how this initiative began five years ago and how it has been strengthened through all the recognitions.
The V catwalk of scientific publications is the ideal event to promote an academic space where knowledge and research are exchanged and where the results are evidenced in a participatory model that has led to an increase in the number of publications that are produced in Panama and that have been indexed.
For Magister Ricardo Him Chi, Vice Chancellor for Research at the UP, this annual event, which has been held since 2018, has encouraged the growth of scientific publications that have come to light. “It is a recognition of the work that they have done this year in the scientific world and we must ponder the growth of scientific journals that Panama has had in recent years. We want to congratulate them, give them a voice of encouragement," Him said.
The gala and recognition night was enlivened by the Folkloric Ensemble of the Office of the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs.
