Meeting with the provincial chapters and institutional sectors that make up the Association of Social Workers of Panama

The participation of social workers is crucial in various social issues, since they provide direct assistance, promoting direct support to individuals and families in vulnerable situations, with accessibility to essential resources and services that guarantee improving quality of life. They are defenders of human rights and work to ensure that all people, especially the most disadvantaged, have access to their basic rights.

They are mediators and conflict solvers in communities, families and between individuals, promoting peace and social cohesion. They contribute to community development by working to strengthen communities, promoting citizen participation and sustainable development at the local level.

They participate in the development of public policies. Their professional work and knowledge are vital for the creation and implementation of effective public policies that respond to the social needs of the country. They also contribute to educating the population on important topics such as health, social rights and gender equality, contributing to a more informed and equitable society. In addition, they are researchers who, with their results, generate tools to better understand social problems and develop effective strategies to address them.

From this perspective, the Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology -UMECIT- was invited to participate in a meeting with the different provincial chapters and some public and educational institutions to build a social project binding with the study houses that train these professionals. In Panama. This meeting was attended by Dr. Miguel Antonio Bernal, Advisor on Institutional Issues of the Presidency of the Republic. A master presentation was also given by Magister Cesar Ruiloba, Former President of the National Bar Association, and a 2021-2023 management report was provided by the President of the Social Work Association, Magister Kenia Batista, who in her presentation He mentioned that the agreement will be signed between the Social Work Association and the UMECIT.

This event was attended by Magister Yelitza González, National Director of Extension of UMECIT, and Licda. Tharelys Landecho, Entrepreneurship and Social Linkage Coordinator.
