An evening to celebrate careers, recognize contributions, and strengthen ties with those who continue to leave their mark on Panamanian society.

The UMECIT Biennial Alumni Meeting was a great success, held on the evening of September 23 at the COOPEVE Events Center, in an evening dedicated to recognizing the impact of professionals trained at the University and their contributions from different areas of performance.

The welcoming remarks were delivered by Ms. Myriam Agudelo, Coordinator of the campus, who highlighted UMECIT's commitment to comprehensive training and to generating new opportunities for its graduates.

During the meeting, Mr. Emanuel Mendieta presented the benefits and opportunities offered by the Alumni Network, as part of the initiatives that seek to maintain and strengthen the link between the University and its professionals.

Vestigium: stories that leave a mark

One of the central moments of the evening was the discussion “Vestigium: Stories that leave a mark”, moderated by the Mgtr. Wendy Michelle Nunez Loo.

The event provided an opportunity to learn firsthand about the experiences and career paths of outstanding graduates, who shared their stories, lessons learned, and the contributions they make from their respective fields to the development of the country.

The discussion highlighted the diversity of professional paths that can arise from university education and the impact that graduates generate in their communities and in society.

VESTIGIUM Award 2026: recognition for those who leave a mark

As part of the celebration, the presentation of VESTIGIUM Award 2026, recognition that distinguishes UMECIT graduates for their careers and contributions in different areas of national development.

The award winners were:

• Academic and Research Category: Dr. Sindy Massiel Ortiz Torres.
• Social and Community Category: Ms. Ingrid Mayerlin Pinto.
• Cultural Category: Mr. Rubén Darío Sánchez Guido.

The meeting concluded with the closing remarks of Ms. Widad González, Extension Coordinator at the David campus, who expressed his gratitude to the authorities, graduates, teachers, special guests and members of the university community for being part of this celebration.

With this meeting, UMECIT reaffirms its commitment to its graduates and recognizes the value of their careers, their contributions and the impact they have made in their different fields of action.

Because a university story doesn't end with graduation: It continues in every contribution that transforms lives and generates value for the country.
