The Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology -UMECIT- participated in Consultation workshop for the formulation of the National Policy on Occupational Safety and Health and the National Program on Occupational Safety and Health of Panama, reaffirming its commitment to the training of highly skilled professionals and its active contribution to strengthening public policies aimed at workplace well-being and the protection of working people.

This important process is led by the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health, with the technical assistance of International Labour Organization (ILO), and its purpose is to develop in a participatory and tripartite manner national instruments that define priorities, objectives, actions, goals and indicators to strengthen occupational safety and health in Panama.

The workshop took place on May 19, 2026, in it Hotel Marriott Panama, Albrook Mall, bringing together various strategic actors committed to building policies that contribute to improving working conditions at the national level.

Representing UMECIT were:

• Ricaurte Amado Bethancourt González, Academic Coordinator of the Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health.
• Stephany Gissel Castillo Díaz, graduate of the Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health and General Manager of IISSO MANAGEMENT7 HSEQ Management & Business Sustainability.

Institutional participation in this space allowed us to contribute academic and professional perspectives aimed at strengthening a preventive culture, promoting safer, healthier and more sustainable work environments.
