The Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology -UMECIT- is proud to have participated in the official delivery of legal status to entrepreneurial women and men of the Changing Lives Axis of Action. This beautiful event took place in the communities of Mina de Membrillo and San Juan de Dios, in the province of Coclé.
Two groups of entrepreneurs, an integral part of the Changing Lives Project, worked in collaboration with the Ministry of Labor and Labor Development (MITRADEL), the Panamanian Autonomous Cooperative Institute (IPACOOP) and other government institutions. The delivery of legal status formalizes these entrepreneurs as associative organizations, vital income-generating tools for community development.
In this project, UMECIT has provided its support through socioeconomic and socio-educational evaluations carried out by students of the Social Work and Human Development major. In addition, from the Entrepreneurship Coordination, seminars on Entrepreneurship and Business Ideas have been offered. It is important to highlight that this project has positively impacted 82 women and 11 men from the communities of Membrillo, San Juan de Dios, Rio Hato and Ventorrillo in the province of Coclé.
The University's active participation in projects like this one, which link academic work with the community, demonstrates our commitment to meeting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in particular:
🌱 Poverty Reduction (SDG 1)
👩🎓 Gender Equality (SDG 5)
🌍 Climate Action (SDG 13)
UMECIT remains committed to contributing to the sustainable development and well-being of our communities through concrete and collaborative actions like this.
