It is crucial that young people get involved in the electoral process, as they represent an important force in strengthening our democracy. The young vote has acquired a determining role in the Panama elections on May 5. According to data from the Final Electoral Roll (PEF), the 48% of the voters is less than 40 years old.
Of the 3,004,083 voters eligible to vote, a 29% is between 18 and 30 years of age, which is equivalent to 867,681 votes. Furthermore, a 19% is between 31 and 40 years old, which represents 584,881 votes.
It is important to highlight that in these elections, 323,367 young people will vote for the first time. Of these, 158,530 are women and 164,837 are men.
Therefore, it is essential that young people actively get involved in the electoral process and exercise their right to vote in an informed and conscious manner. Our mock voting at UMECIT offers an excellent opportunity to practice the electoral process and contribute to strengthening our democracy.
This event is a great way to become familiar with the electoral process and contribute to strengthening our university community. We will wait for you!
