Our University stands out for its Sustainable Practices
Today is a day of celebration for our House of Studies, since we have been recognized by the organization Convert Sustainable Solutions as one of the 5 leading companies in recycling in Panama, among the 45 entities that work with this company. According to Andrés Iglesias, Manager General of Convert Sustainable Solutions, our University has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to recycling for more than a year. And thanks to our joint efforts, UMECIT has managed to place itself in this Top of the organizations that recycled the most in the country in 2023, with approximately 4.2 tons of recycled waste.
This achievement is the result of the teamwork of our leaders, students, administrators, teachers and operational staff, all committed to the cause of sustainability.
For Santiago Nieto Rueda, Vice Chancellor of Projects and leader of this initiative at UMECIT, congratulations go to the entire university community for this achievement.
“This is just the beginning of an ambitious plan to extend these sustainable practices to all our headquarters. The pilot plan, which involved three locations, will soon expand to La Chorrera and later to all other locations. The objective of the project is to reduce and improve our carbon footprint, thus consolidating our University as a sustainable institution,” said Nieto Rueda.
This recognition not only demonstrates our commitment to the environment, but also our commitment to the future of our society.
Let's continue working together to build a more sustainable and responsible world!
