Beach cleanup day in Barú as a volunteer activity

Students, teachers, graduates, and administrative staff from UMECIT David campus participated on April 11th in a beach cleanup day in the township of Limones, as part of their volunteer work. “Hands that Transform”, within the framework of Good Deeds Day.

Students from the Bachelor's degrees in Occupational Safety and Health —from the Environmental Education subject—, Criminalistics and Forensic Sciences, Accounting, Medical Records and Health Statistics, as well as a graduate of the Bachelor's degree in Social Work and Human Development, participated in the activity, joining efforts in favor of the protection of the environment.

The initiative aimed to promote environmental awareness, collaborative work and social commitment, contributing to the conservation of the region's marine-coastal ecosystems.

UMECIT developed this activity in conjunction with LaRama Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to environmental protection and environmental education, strengthening the impact through inter-institutional collaboration.

During the day, participants carried out solid waste collection and sorting, while promoting messages about the importance of reducing pollution and preserving natural resources.

This initiative, promoted by the Extension Coordination, reaffirms the institutional commitment to comprehensive education, fostering values of solidarity, active citizenship and respect for the environment.
