Innovation from UMECIT: Presentation of Prototype to Mitigate Environmental Risks in Chitré

In an effort to contribute to sustainable development and address environmental challenges, student researchers from the Bachelor's Degree in Programming Systems at the Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology (UMECIT), Chitré campus, participated in an important meeting with key stakeholders in the Azuerense community.

Ángel Pérez and Ana Pérez, accompanied by professor Guillermina Higuera and Mgter. Anielka De Samaniego, Coordinator of Research and Innovation, presented their formative research entitled "Implementation of the Meteorological Data Monitoring and Analysis System of Panama." This innovative project was presented in the Meeting Room of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of Chitré.

During the meeting, the students presented a prototype for monitoring data in microenvironments, designed with the aim of mitigating environmental risks and promoting technological solutions that positively impact the environment.

The relevance of the project caught the attention of the representative of the Municipality of Chitré, who proposed implementing a Pilot Plan to apply this prototype in the Chitré landfill and in other areas of strategic interest.

This achievement reinforces UMECIT's commitment to applied research and innovation, transforming knowledge into tools that respond to the needs of society.

From UMECIT, we extend our congratulations to the student researchers, to the tutor Guillermina Higuera, and to Mgter. Anielka De Samaniego for their dedication and significant contributions to academic and social development.

This project is a clear example of how education and science can generate real solutions to the challenges of the present and the future.
