II Environmental Fair of the Youth Network of Universities for Sustainable Development-RUPADES
The Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology, is present at the Second Environmental Fair of the Youth Network of Panamanian Universities for Sustainable Development (RUPADES) whose motto “TOGETHER FOR A GREENER FUTURE”, which was developed in ISAE – University.
In this important event that is part of the Social Linkage and Environmental Conservation Programs, the linkage of the substantive functions, Academy, Extension and Research, stands out, with pride and joy we were represented by the student Mélida Guerra of the Lic. in Environmental Management with the project “RECYCLE HOPE AND MORE”, which takes place in the towns of Las Cumbres and Chilibre.
The Network of Panamanian Universities for Sustainable Development RUPADES, carries out this Youth Fair, where the final presentation of the environmental projects developed as a result of the III Seminar on Environmental Contexts and Concepts, Climate Change Version, held last month is held. of August. It is developed with the purpose of promoting the participation of young students from different educational institutions and the actions and activities they carry out, in each of their universities, in matters of environmental protection and sustainable development, as well as the importance of working jointly to achieve the objectives, in addition to promoting an environmental culture that makes a difference in our community.
RUPADES is the network that promotes environmental management in universities to face the challenges of sustainable development in Panama, made up of the member universities of the Council of Rectors. Its main objective is to stimulate the exchange of information and promote compliance with the so-called university social responsibility, which is why this activity is framed as part of the extension program, within the social and environmental commitment that we have to educate and strengthen environmental culture. of the Umecista community, and the responsibility we have with future generations to leave a healthy planet, whose vision is to promote a space for reflection in the participants, which helps them enhance a civic attitude and citizen responsibility aimed at knowing environmental issues. . In this way, Umecit continues to consolidate a culture of environmental conservation inside and outside the institution, with a view to reducing the environmental impact of the environment, as a citizen responsibility of the entire community in general; while promoting the promotion and training in the management of information and real situations on disaster risks, climate change, conservation of natural resources and the environment in the university community and the population.
