As part of their professional training, students of the Bachelor of Law and Political Science at UMECIT, La Chorrera campus, participated in an enriching academic tour to the Superintendency of the Securities Market of Panama (SMV), as a practical complement to the subject of Stock Market Law, directed by Professor Mariano Justiniani.
The day allowed students to transfer the knowledge acquired in the classroom to the real context of the Panamanian legal and financial system, bringing them closer to the operation and regulatory framework of the Securities Market.
During the visit, participants explored aspects related to Decree Law 1 of 1999, Title II of Law 67 of 2011, as well as their complementary laws and amending acts. They also gained a more detailed understanding of the legal framework applicable to the SMV's sanctioning procedures, strengthening their legal analysis and interpretation skills.
This academic outreach experience contributed to the development of critical thinking, legal analysis, and a practical understanding of the regulations governing the stock market in Panama. It also fostered knowledge exchange and collaborative learning in an environment directly linked to professional practice.
Through these types of initiatives, UMECIT reaffirms its commitment to a comprehensive, practical education connected to the national reality, providing its students with experiences that complement their training and prepare them to face the challenges of practicing law in the legal, economic, and financial fields.
The academic tour represents a demonstration of the importance of learning beyond the classroom, generating spaces that allow future professionals to investigate, analyze, participate and responsibly approach the reality of the legal and financial environment of Panama.
