Exploring occupational health and safety at Central Azucarero La Victoria

In an initiative focused on promoting health and safety in the work environment, students from the Bachelor's program in Occupational Health and Safety at UMECIT Santiago headquarters carried out a visit to the La Victoria Sugar Mill. The fundamental purpose was to acquire direct knowledge about the occupational health and safety management system implemented in the industrial area of the company.

The event, which had the active participation of students, teachers and company representatives, highlighted the critical importance of ensuring a safe and healthy environment for workers. Beyond safeguarding employee health, focusing on workplace safety can have a positive impact on a company's profitability, productivity, and reputation.

The visit to the La Victoria Sugar Mill also highlighted the relevance of the link between academia and the business sector. This collaboration not only enriches student learning, but also provides tangible benefits to businesses by leveraging the specialized knowledge of future occupational health and safety professionals.

Our House of Studies reaffirms its commitment to the comprehensive training of its students, as well as to the promotion of safe and sustainable work practices. Events like this demonstrate the relevance and positive impact that higher education can have in improving working conditions and protecting workers' health.
