University Extension is one of the substantive functions of the University, along with research and teaching, and focuses on promoting cultural development and the transfer of knowledge and culture between the various social sectors of the community.
This commitment is materialized in activities that transcend the walls of the institution, reaching the community in general. These activities include courses, conferences, workshops, continuing education programs, advisory services, cultural events, among others, with the aim of facilitating access to knowledge and contributing to the social, cultural and economic development of society.
It is essential to highlight that the University Extension Directorate not only fulfills a local function, but also contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established by the United Nations in 2015 as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development .
The SDGs address a wide range of social, economic and environmental challenges facing the world. These include the eradication of poverty, the fight against climate change, the promotion of gender equality, and access to quality education and health care, among others.
Each goal has specific targets associated with them, and countries have committed to working towards their achievement in the coming years. The SDGs constitute a comprehensive guide to promote sustainable development and provide equitable opportunities for all people.
The 17 Sustainable Development Goals are:
