Educational Experience: Maritime Administration and Logistics Students Immerse themselves in Port Operations

Students of the Bachelor's Degree in Maritime and Port Administration, as well as the Daytime Bachelor's Degree in Logistics and Multimodal Transportation, had an enriching educational experience with Professor Omar de Gracia from the subject System I and System II.

The activity consisted of a visit to the Flamenco Island Marina, where participants closely explored the operation and administration of this port, in addition to becoming familiar with the technological resources used therein.

This activity, which merges teaching with extension, allowed students to:

  • Examine in detail the IT infrastructure of the Port of Fuerte Amador on Isla Flamenco, understanding its design, implementation and operation.
  • Analyze the fundamental role of computer systems in logistics management and coordination of port activities.
  • Evaluate the integration of emerging technologies, such as IoT (Internet of Things) and artificial intelligence, in port operations.
  • Understand the challenges and opportunities associated with cybersecurity in port environments.
  • Establish tangible connections between the theory learned in the classroom and its practical application in the context of the Port of Fuerte Amador, thus promoting experiential learning.
  • Promote the exchange of knowledge and experiences between students, teachers and professionals in the port sector.
  • Inspire participants to consider careers and research projects related to technology applied to port management.

This collaboration between the academy and the business sector reinforces the training of our professionals, demonstrating the commitment of our educational institution to continue promoting activities that enrich the training of competitive professionals.

We continue to move forward together towards educational and professional excellence!
