UMECIT is an institution with a broad social sense, therefore, it tends to get closer to the active and institutional forces of the different regions where the headquarters are located.
In this approach, it listens to the communities about the opportunities to make contributions from research, extension and teaching with the purpose of generating social impact.
Within this framework, our House of Studies has started the Study of regional contexts in the Republic of Panama: an approach from the academy, with the participation of teachers, students and administrators at the La Chorrera, Veraguas, Herrera and David campuses; under the coordination of the team from the Research, Innovation and Postgraduate Department.
In the project, information collection instruments are applied to those responsible and key actors in public and private institutions and companies, as well as NGOs and Cooperatives, which will provide valuable information to determine the research projects that will begin in the first semester. of the year, within the framework of the call for registrations of research projects 2023.
For UMECIT, it is essential to prioritize efforts and resources in addressing problems that allow strengthening the link with the environment through research, complying with the university's social responsibility.
The information will be systematized and will provide inputs for the academic, extension, and research and innovation areas; within the framework of the articulation of substantive university functions.
