With the purpose of performing balance, gait and strength tests on patients and recording the results in their files for their subsequent follow-up and treatment, last Sunday, April 2, an event was held at the Soho Mall aimed at adults. in which students from the Metropolitan University of Educational Sciences and Technology -UMECIT-, the Ministry of Social Development and the Community Board participated.
The students of our House of Studies were in charge of carrying out the SPPB tests (System for the Evaluation of Balance, Gait and Strength in the Elderly) to the patients. This evaluation system consists of a series of tests to measure the ability of patients to maintain balance, the action of walking and performing strength tasks. The results obtained are recorded in the files of each patient, which will allow health professionals to adequately monitor their state of health and detect possible problems or improvements in their physical state.
The event had the participation of several volunteers from the Ministry of Social Development and the Community Board, who helped in the organization of the event and in the care of the patients, who were received in a special room where the purpose of the meeting was explained to them. and SBBP tests were performed. The UMECIT students carried out the tests with professionalism and dedication, paying attention to every detail to obtain the best possible results.
Overall, the event was a great success and the goal of testing patients for SPPB and recording the results in their files was achieved. The students of this House of Studies once again demonstrated their commitment to the health and well-being of the community and the support of the Ministry of Social Development and the Community Board was essential for the success of the event. It is hoped that these types of meetings will continue to be held in the future to help improve the health and well-being of the older adult community.
