As part of their commitment to comprehensive training and university social responsibility, students of the Bachelor's Degree in General Psychology of the Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology -UMECIT- carried out a day of mental health promotion in the community of San Francisco, Las Garzas, under the guidance of the teacher Lic. Horley Barrett.

During the day, topics tailored to the needs of each group were addressed. Children focused on strengthening self-esteem through play and recreational activities; adolescents participated in workshops to reflect on identity formation; and adults were encouraged to prevent abandonment and strengthen family support as essential elements for mental health and harmonious coexistence.

The activities included educational talks, group dynamics and participatory spaces that fostered the exchange of experiences, dialogue and the appropriation of practical tools to face the challenges of each stage of development.

Beyond academic learning, this experience allowed future psychologists to put into practice the knowledge acquired in the classroom, strengthening communication, leadership, community work and psychosocial intervention skills in real-world settings.

UMECIT congratulates the participating students and the teacher Lic. Horley Barrett for their commitment, dedication and vocation of service, demonstrating that university education transcends the classroom when knowledge is put at the service of communities.

The activity was developed as part of the University Extension actions, allowing students to strengthen their professional skills through the planning and execution of intervention strategies aimed at different age groups, with the purpose of promoting emotional well-being and strengthening protective factors in the community.
