Law students make an academic visit to the Presidential Palace with a tour guide from the UMECIT Tourism Program

With great enthusiasm and academic spirit, students of the Bachelor of Law from the Panama campus of UMECIT carried out a visit to the emblematic Presidential Palace, in an activity that reaffirms the University's commitment to the comprehensive training of its future professionals.

The initiative, led by graduate student Diego Tenorio, had the support of the Academic Coordination, bringing together classmates, teachers and administrative staff in an experience that transcends the classroom. This type of activity encourages experiential learning in topics such as Administrative Law, while promoting a greater understanding of the cultural heritage and the structure of the Panamanian State, essential pillars for a solid academic and civic education.

A highlight of the visit was the participation of Ms. Griselda Bernal as a guide. A graduate of the Bachelor's Degree in Tourism from UMECIT, Bernal has dedicated more than 34 years to recounting the historical and architectural evolution of the Presidential Palace to various academic groups. Her leadership in the activity was a source of institutional pride, demonstrating how UMECIT graduates contribute significantly to the cultural and academic strengthening of the country.

The experience is part of the University's essential functions, which include social outreach and projection, bringing students closer to spaces for experiential learning. This type of activity reinforces not only disciplinary learning, but also the connection of participants with national identity and cultural values.

The delegation was made up of prominent members of the university community, including Professor Demetrio González; Magister Julie Guerrero, Academic Auditor; and Licentiate Jannis Briceño, Coordinator of University Welfare. During the tour, participants explored the historic spaces of the Palacio de Las Garzas, combining legal knowledge with an appreciation for the history and art that defines this iconic place.

“The tour has been so enriching that we are committed to repeating this initiative with other groups. We want more students to experience this direct connection with the history and art surrounding the Presidential Palace,” said Professor González at the close of the activity.

UMECIT thanks all those involved in organizing this visit and reaffirms its commitment to academic excellence and university social responsibility, promoting experiences that integrate knowledge, culture and social development in Panama.
