In an exciting and motivating event, three prominent political leaders addressed an in-person audience of more than 200 young people as part of the “Young Vote” program. Among the speakers were two candidates for mayor of Panama, Guillermo Willie Bermúdez and Edison Broce, along with José Antonio Pérez Barboni, candidate for deputy.
During the meeting, the candidates shared their experiences about why they decided to enter politics from an early age, highlighting the importance of taking direct action instead of simply participating on social media. They motivated the students to exercise their right to vote, recognizing the relevance of the more than 800 thousand young people between 18 and 36 years old who will participate in the next elections.
Likewise, they emphasized the importance of getting involved in the electoral process, informing themselves about the candidates and their proposals. They all agreed that their campaigns are focused on providing social, educational, work, medical and sports opportunities to young people.
During the question and answer session, various topics were addressed, from the importance of sports and cultural spaces to keep young people away from situations of social risk, to comprehensive waste management and the need to prioritize the mental health of young people. through projects and spaces dedicated to solving their needs as a priority.
In the event, which took place in the conference room of the Founders headquarters of UMECIT and which was also broadcast on YouTube, with a wide audience, four prominent universities in Panama participated: UDI, OTEIMA, ISAE and UMECIT, where the young participants They received emotional and inspiring words, strengthening their civic commitment in the face of the upcoming elections.
These institutions came together to offer young people a platform to listen to and dialogue with political leaders about the important role they play in the future of their country.
