With the purpose of strengthening legal training and promoting the analysis of the challenges facing Law in an increasingly interconnected world, the Academic Forum “Beyond Borders: Recognition and Execution of Foreign Judgments in a Globalized World” was developed.

The activity was organized by students of the Bachelor of Law and Political Science, Night group, of the La Chorrera Campus, and constituted a space for learning, reflection and exchange of experiences around Private International Law, international judicial cooperation and the legal mechanisms for the recognition and execution of foreign judgments.

The forum featured the participation of prominent legal professionals: Prosecutor Anabellis Jaén, from the Public Ministry, Primary Section of Crimes Against the Regional Economic Heritage of Panama West, and Attorney Irma Vanessa Palacios A., Guarantee Judge of the Third Judicial Circuit of the province of Panama West, who shared their knowledge and professional experiences with the participants.

During the day, aspects related to national and international legislation, judicial procedures, cooperation between States and the challenges that arise when a judicial decision must produce effects outside the territory where it was issued were analyzed.

This content enabled future legal professionals to understand the importance of having effective mechanisms that guarantee legal security and access to justice in a context marked by increasing globalization and interaction between different legal systems.

The activity also contributed to strengthening skills such as critical thinking, argumentation, and legal analysis, by allowing participants to connect classroom knowledge with situations and challenges inherent in professional practice. The forum was led by Professor Edgar Ortega.
