Every October 10, the world commemorates World Mental Health Day, an initiative established by the World Federation for Mental Health with the purpose of raising awareness and educating about the importance of mental health globally.
The main objective of this day is to eliminate the stigma around mental illness, encourage understanding of the challenges faced by those living with mental disorders, and highlight the importance of maintaining good mental health in general.
To celebrate this occasion, the Academic Physiotherapy Laboratory moved to the headquarters of the Municipality of Panama on October 10. There, valuable information was shared about the benefits of physical therapy on mental health. By improving physical condition and overcoming obstacles in rehabilitation, physical therapy can contribute to increasing self-esteem and self-confidence, fundamental aspects for mental health.
At UMECIT we join the cause of promoting mental health and well-being in our academic community and beyond. We remind everyone that mental health is an invaluable asset that we must care for and promote in our daily lives.
