Students of the Bachelor of Law and Political Science program, La Chorrera campus, made an academic tour to the National Assembly of the Republic of Panama, with the purpose of learning firsthand about the functioning of the Legislative Body and the processes that support Panamanian democracy.
The activity, developed under the motto "Democracy, Representation and Legislative Function", was coordinated by the teacher Mgtr. Aracelli Achille and allowed the participants to delve deeper into topics related to citizen representation, the formation of laws and the functions of legislative committees.
During the tour, the students visited the National Assembly facilities and learned about the work of various standing committees, including those on Budget, Government, and Education. They also had the opportunity to exchange experiences with members of parliament from different political parties and caucuses, as well as meet with the Secretary General of the National Assembly and the member of parliament who extended the invitation.
These meetings allowed them to gain a closer understanding of parliamentary dynamics, the importance of dialogue between different political forces, and the role played by the Legislative Body in the country's democratic institutions.
The tour was a valuable learning experience by connecting the knowledge acquired in the classroom with the practical exercise of the functions of the State.
With these initiatives, UMECIT reaffirms its commitment to comprehensive education, promoting academic experiences that strengthen critical thinking, knowledge of public institutions, and the preparation of future professionals committed to the development of the country.
