CALL FOR THE SUBMISSION OF INSTITUTIONAL RESEARCH PROJECTS 2026 – ROUND I
UMECIT announces the opening of the Call for Institutional Research Project Submissions 2026 – Round I, an initiative aimed at strengthening scientific production, knowledge generation and the development of innovative proposals with academic, social and productive impact.
This call reaffirms UMECIT's institutional commitment to promoting applied research, consolidating research lines and groups, and strengthening a scientific culture that contributes to sustainable development and the solution of problems relevant to the country and the region.
In this regard, the University invites faculty, graduates and administrative staff to submit research proposals aligned with institutional lines, promoting collaborative, multidisciplinary work and linkage with national and international academic networks.
GUIDELINES FOR PARTICIPATING IN THE CALL FOR APPLICATIONS:
- The call is aimed at teachers (national or international), graduates or administrative staff of UMECIT.
- In the case of graduates or administrative staff, it is an essential requirement to submit the proposal jointly with an active teacher.
- Academic and research staff from external institutions, linked to UMECIT through national and international inter-institutional alliances and agreements, may participate as Co-investigators.
- The Participation Intention Form for the Research Registration Call must be completed via the following link:
https://forms.gle/FpmsV4sPEh4CYgew5 - Up to two faculty members may submit proposals, and students of any level of education may be involved, up to a maximum of five. Disciplinary or multidisciplinary studies are accepted, provided they align with UMECIT's research areas.
- Once you express your intention to participate, the Institutional Research Protocol will be sent to your email, to be submitted once completed, through the means provided by the university.
- The financial aspects linked to the project must be detailed and duly justified in the research protocol form (including participation in scientific events and publications to disseminate advances or results in scientific journals indexed in Scopus or Web of Science).
- The maximum amount of financing per project will be 2,500$, subject to prior assessment and approval.
- The research team whose proposal is approved will be automatically linked to the corresponding institutional research group according to the project's theme, committing to participate in the activities associated with the dynamics of the research group, under the general coordination of the Research and Innovation Center.
- Regarding financing, the funds will be subject to the disbursement procedure established by the Financial Directorate of UMECIT, which will be shared with those responsible for the selected proposals.
- Faculty, staff, or graduates whose projects are approved must sign a contract outlining their commitments and UMECIT's responsibilities. This contract will specify the financial incentives they will receive upon delivery of the scientific products resulting from their research.
- Within the framework of the research incentive program, researchers with active projects will receive academic incentives and social recognition.
EVALUATION AND SELECTION
- The proposals will be submitted to a preliminary evaluation by the Research and Innovation Directorate and the Research Center of UMECIT.
- The following criteria will be taken into account in the evaluation:
- Academic and social impact
- Scientific quality of the proposal
- Originality in the specific field
- Relevance to institutional research lines
- Impact on teaching and/or outreach
- Application of knowledge that provides solutions to the country's productive and social problems
- Contribution to the consolidation of research lines and groups at UMECIT
- Submitting proposals does not obligate their acceptance.
