UMECIT La Chorrera Campus received a recycling station donated by the company Volt Oeste, SA, thanks to the efforts of the Environmental Management Directorate of the La Chorrera Mayor's Office and the support of the recycling company Metal Verde, which will be responsible for the periodic collection of recyclable materials generated by the university community.

The delivery of this station was made possible through the collaborative work of the Environmental Management Department of the La Chorrera Municipality, led by engineer Igor Hous, who promptly addressed the request submitted by the University and facilitated the necessary steps to bring this initiative to fruition. As a result, Volt Oeste, SA donated the recycling tanks, reaffirming its commitment to corporate social responsibility and environmental protection.

As part of this initiative, Metal Verde will assume responsibility for the regular collection of recyclable materials, ensuring they receive proper treatment and contribute to strengthening the circular economy. Furthermore, during a meeting with the University Extension Coordination, Osman Carranza, the company's manager and a proud graduate of UMECIT La Chorrera, expressed his willingness to develop training, awareness, and environmental education workshops for students, faculty, and staff, with the aim of fostering a recycling culture within the institution.

Likewise, both institutions expressed their interest in moving towards the signing of a cooperation agreement that will allow them to promote joint projects in the areas of sustainability, research, student internships, volunteering and environmental impact programs that benefit both the university community and the district.

This important achievement reflects the strong inter-institutional relationships that UMECIT La Chorrera Headquarters maintains with the Mayor's Office of the District of La Chorrera, strengthened through the current cooperation agreement and the ongoing work promoted by the University Extension Coordination.

This joint effort was coordinated by the Environmental Management Directorate of the Municipality of La Chorrera, the University Extension Coordination and the UMECIT La Chorrera Headquarters Coordination, strengthening institutional actions aimed at sustainability and responsible waste management.

Thanks to this strategic alliance between academia, local government, and private enterprise, initiatives continue to be developed that generate a positive impact on the community, promoting sustainable development, environmental education, social responsibility, and the training of citizens committed to protecting the environment.
