Official opening of the International Diploma in Journalism and Tourism Communication: Opening New Horizons for Tourism in Panama

Today the formal opening ceremony of the International Diploma in Journalism and Tourism Communication was held, a new UMECIT program with the objective of training a group of journalists with the necessary tools to promote Panama as a world-renowned tourist destination.

This exciting event was attended by distinguished teachers and national and international personalities, which guarantees the delivery of specialized knowledge and training of participants to promote the tourism industry both locally and internationally.

During the inauguration, Rector José Alberto Nieto Rojas expressed his gratitude to the Program Coordinator, Master Joaquín Vásquez, for being a source of inspiration and for promoting this initiative.

The academic advisor, Joaquín Vásquez, highlighted the importance of the educational offer in tune with the new trends and needs of tourism, underlining the focus on generating meaningful debates between collaborators, participants and teachers.

On the other hand, Raúl López, President of the National College of Journalists (CONAPE), emphasized the importance of student specialization for individual growth and contribution to the country.

The event also featured the participation of prominent professionals, such as the expert Mexican professor, Eva Mayela Padilla, who highlighted the importance of tourism in Mexico and its potential at an international level.

The Vice Minister of Tourism, Magda Durán, praised the beauty of Panama and stressed the importance of journalists highlighting the country's attractions, pointing out the different tourist destinations that the region offers.

The Continuing Education Coordination of the Extension Directorate is committed to generating topics for the benefit of the country and the region.
