XII UMECIT HEALTH FAIR 2024: YOUR HEALTH, YOUR GREATEST TREASURE

The Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology -UMECIT-, as part of its outreach and social work activities, organizes the XII Health Fair annually. This event aims to promote healthy lifestyles and provide support to priority groups, as well as help vulnerable populations.

This iconic activity promotes physical activity, recreation and sports as a means to strengthen physical culture in Panama and the well-being of our educational community.

The primary objective of the Health Fair is to support institutions and people with disabilities or in vulnerable situations. Donations collected at this event will contribute to improving the quality of life of the person or entity selected by voting.

This event is aimed at students, teachers, administrators, graduates, strategic allies and the community in general.

Panama Headquarters: This year, the Panama branch will benefit José Manuel Martínez, a 33-year-old who suffered a traffic accident in 2021 that left him with quadriplegia. After a long hospitalization process, including two months in a coma, José was discharged with a tracheotomy and constant care needs. Although he has shown signs of improvement, he still requires support to purchase items such as disposable diapers, personal hygiene items, and specialized medical care.

This year, the Chitre headquarters will benefit the Down syndrome children's foundation of Herrera, who support the development and growth of children with this diagnosis, and the María Auxiliadora Home of Chitre, which provides care to older adults in this sector.

LCELAP Foundation, the Language and Autism Stimulation Center of Panama, offers a comprehensive online therapeutic approach for children diagnosed with ASD. Through a program, we apply different strategies such as the TEACH system, we apply the theory of multiple intelligences to maximize and develop children's skills. Through the Autism Training at Home program, which supports and guides families, together we move towards a more inclusive and promising future.

David's headquarters at the health fair would benefit this year the child Eliam Mendoza who is 5 years old and his condition is cerebral palsy, resides in the District Community of Puerto Armuelles, province of Chiriquí.
