UMECIT and the National Institute of Mental Health strengthen cooperative ties for the benefit of the community.
On September 19, representatives from the Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology (UMECIT) held a coordination meeting with Dr. Juana Herrera, a psychiatrist at the National Institute of Mental Health of Panama, to advance the collaborative work being developed within the framework of the current agreement with the Ministry of Health (MINSA).
During the meeting, the feasibility of designing a social intervention project aimed at improving the quality of life of the people served at this health institution was reviewed. The action plan seeks to coordinate efforts with the Nursing, Psychology, Social Work and Physical Education, integrating academic training with the processes of University Extension and Social Engagement.
In this way, students will have the opportunity to gain field experience, applying their knowledge in real-life settings that strengthen their professional profile and reinforce UMECIT's commitment to the country's mental health and social well-being.
