On Friday, June 28, 2024, in the Higher Office of the Ministry of Education, room B, the protocol ceremony for the delivery of the Accreditation and Reaccreditation Certifications of the Health Sciences careers was carried out. This event had the participation of the authorities of the National Council for University Evaluation and Accreditation of Panama -CONEUPA-.
The Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology -UMECIT- was honored to receive these certifications from the hands of the Minister of Education, Maruja de Gorday, accompanied by the Executive Secretary of CONEAUPA, María del Carmen Terrientes de Benavides, and the Academic Vice Minister , Dr. Ariel Rodríguez Gil. Representing UMECIT, Dr. José A. Nieto received the certification, accompanied by Lourdes Iribarren, Coordinator of the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Physiotherapy major.
The certifications granted included the reaccreditation of the General Psychology major and the accreditation of the Physiotherapy and Occupational Health and Safety majors, all for a maximum period of six years. This achievement reflects UMECIT's commitment to the highest quality standards required by CONEAUPA in the academic and administrative management of its programs, especially in the health area.
In a significant protocol act, the rector of our House of Studies formally presented these certifications to the Vice-Rector General, Dr. Claudia Marcela Rueda Ossa; the Academic Vice-Rector, Mgter. Hermes Mauricio Sierra; the Director of Accreditation, Dr. Gressy Zuñiga Ávila; the Coordinator of General Psychology, Lic. Gissel Guerrero; the Coordinator of the Occupational Safety and Health career, Lic. Ricauter Bethancour; and the University Extension Coordinator, Lic. Yelitxa González.
UMECIT expresses its deep gratitude to all the collaborators who contributed to the process, highlighting their excellent work and commitment in internal self-evaluations, fundamental for the continuous improvement of the institution.
