Today we had the honor of participating as guests in the signing of the Pact for the Human Rights of Older Persons in Panama. As an academic entity committed to a Cyberhumanist Educational Model, we recognize the vital importance of this pact to guarantee the dignity, well-being and protection of older adults in our society.
The signing of this pact is crucial, since it gives us the opportunity as creators of professionals in various sciences to contribute with research and educational programs aimed at promoting awareness and respect for this demographic group. Furthermore, it commits us to developing inclusive practices that ensure their full participation in society.
The design of the document was led by the coordinator of the elderly, Irasema Ahumada, and 43 elderly organizations participated in its preparation. This demonstrates the broad support and commitment of the community towards the protection of the human rights of older people.
It is important to highlight that this pact is signed with the candidates for president and vice president of Panama, which underlines the political commitment towards the protection of the rights of older people.
As an educational institution, UMECIT can serve as a bridge between theory and practice, helping to implement the principles of the covenant in our community through education, research, and collaboration with other institutions and organizations. We are committed to working closely with all stakeholders to ensure that the human rights of older people are respected and protected at all times.
We are honored to be part of this important initiative and hope to continue contributing to the well-being and inclusion of older people in our society.
