On June 13, the team made up of students Mayra Alejandra Ospina, Nayubel Cerrud and Stephany Julio from the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences of UMECIT was notified of their admission to participate in the fourth edition of the international competition Moot Court 2024. This event is organized by the Court of Justice of the Andean Community (TJCA), the Inter-American Association of Intellectual Property (ASIPI) and the International Trademark Association (INTA).
The Moot Court 2024 competition aims to promote specialized study and research in Intellectual Property Law among law students from public and private universities in Latin America. Its purpose is to promote the development of knowledge, professional abilities and practical skills for solving legal problems in this matter.
The UMECIT team, led by Professor Eric Velasco, will compete against participants from across the region. This fact sets a precedent, with UMECIT being one of the first universities in Panama to participate in this competition and the first university to do so. The last edition of the contest was won by the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, with the participation of 36 teams from 11 Latin American countries.
UMECIT is proud of its students and their commitment to academic excellence and representation of the university at international events.
