UMECIT strengthens its research in Veraguas with the visit of Dr. Gilberto Cabrera

On February 4 and 5, UMECIT's Santiago Campus received a visit from Dr. Gilberto Cabrera, president of the Scientific Council of REIMA. During his stay, he held a fruitful meeting with research professors and students from the research centers, consolidating new opportunities for scientific development in the region.

In strategic meetings, research proposals aligned with the environmental and social needs of Veraguas were formalized, based on a previous diagnosis by the Research Department. As a result, lines of work focused on environmental preservation were defined, benefiting communities such as Mariato, Calobre, Las Palmas and Santiago.

This visit also marked a key step in the internationalization of research at the headquarters, strengthening the ties of collaboration with academic networks such as REIMA, RUITEM and GADES. These alliances will allow the dissemination and application of research results for the benefit of society.

At UMECIT, research not only generates knowledge, but is also linked to university outreach to positively impact communities. With initiatives such as these, we reaffirm our commitment to science as a tool for sustainable development and the training of professionals with critical awareness and social responsibility.
