UMECIT strengthens strategic alliances with the Bella Vista Community Council for community development

UMECIT held a joint working table with the Bella Vista Communal Board. During the visit of the Honorable Representative César Kiamco, accompanied by his alternate, HRS Beatriz Ho, various strategic issues were discussed with the team of the Academic Vice-Rector's Office. The Academic Director, Dr. Sandra Ramos; the Director of Extension, Magister Yelitza González, participated in the meeting along with the Extension Team; the Coordinator of the Research Center, Magister Abilio Moreno; and Magister Jannis Briceño, Coordinator of University Welfare, accompanying the Academic Vice-Rector, Dr. Hermes Mauricio Sierra.

During the roundtable discussion, several key topics were addressed, including:

  • Signing of Strategic Alliance Agreement Bella Vista Communal Board – UMECIT: An agreement that seeks to strengthen collaboration between both entities for the benefit of the community.
  • Golden Age Project Start: A program aimed at senior citizens, focused on improving their quality of life.
  • Awareness, training and orientation program: Initiative for the recovery of public areas of the district.
  • Future actions of Social Impact and Community Development: Projects focused on the well-being of Bella Vista residents.
  • Knowledge Transfer: Share with the community the results of research relevant to their needs.
  • Design and implementation of training and capacity building programs: Improving the skills and knowledge of community members.
  • Promoting Local Entrepreneurship: Support for the creation of businesses that boost the economy of the district, registering local entrepreneurs in the UMECIT database.

Following the roundtable discussion, Representative César Kiamco held a meeting with Dr. José Alberto Nieto, Rector and highest authority of our university, where he thanked UMECIT for its commitment and reaffirmed the willingness to work together for the growth and development of Panama.
