On October 29, the UMECIT David campus reaffirmed its commitment to scientific research and sustainable development, as it was represented by research professor Hermes Abdiel De Gracia, from the Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, at the 1st Congress of Water Resources and Basins, organized by the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), through the Faculty of Higher Studies Acatlán, in Mexico City.
During this important international event, the researcher presented the paper entitled “River fragmentation and territorial transformation: the critical case of the Chiriquí Viejo Basin in the face of hydroelectric expansion”, which constitutes a significant advance in the institutional research project that is developing focused on the study of the appearance of the water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) due to fragmentation, an indicator of possible adverse conditions in water quality
