UMECIT attended the national dialogue on the transformation of the Organic Law of Education

Our university participated in a national dialogue and reflection forum on the
transformation of the Organic Law of Education of Panama, convened by the Commission of
Education, Culture and Sport of the National Assembly, as part of the roadmap for
to advance the reform of the Panamanian education system.
The event brought together international experts and leaders in education, including the
former Colombian Minister of Education, María Victoria Angulo, and the former Minister of Education
from Ecuador, Monserrat Creamer, as well as representatives of the Organization for the
Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), who shared experiences,
Recommendations and comparative perspectives on educational transformation processes
in the region.
Authorities from the Association of Private Universities participated in this meeting.

Representatives from the academic sector, who contributed to the analysis of the main
Challenges, gaps and opportunities that the country faces in education.
Key topics such as updating the regulatory framework were addressed during the dialogue.
In the face of social, economic and technological changes, the role of artificial intelligence
as a complementary tool to the educational process, closing gaps in
learning and the need for legislation that meets the demands of the 21st century,
considering that the current law is more than eight decades old.
UMECIT's participation in this event reaffirms its commitment to building
educational public policies and the strengthening of a more educational system
relevant, equitable and aligned with the country's current and future challenges.
