Students of the Bachelor's Degree in Criminalistics and Forensic Sciences at UMECIT, La Chorrera campus, participated in a practical Ballistics workshop held at the Scarlett Shooting Range Center, as part of their academic training process.
During the day, special emphasis was placed on strict compliance with safety regulations, as well as the mandatory use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), promoting responsibility and discipline in the handling of firearms.
In the practical phase, the students carried out exercises in identifying, classifying, and verifying the mechanical operation of different types of weapons. They also addressed aspects related to their structural components, firing mechanisms, and general ballistic characteristics.
As part of the training, controlled tests were developed that allowed for an understanding of the weapon's behavior, the basic trajectory of the projectile, and its relationship to forensic analysis in investigative contexts.
The activity was led by Professor Juan Elías Mendoza, with the objective of reinforcing the theoretical knowledge acquired in the classroom through its application in a controlled environment. Supervision ensured the correct handling of equipment and compliance with established protocols. Participants demonstrated skills in assessing risks, applying preventive measures, and using specialized technical terminology.
This type of academic experience allows for the integration of theory with practice, strengthening key competencies in the field of forensic ballistics. With this, UMECIT reaffirms its commitment to training well-rounded, skilled, and ethically responsible professionals in the field of criminal investigation.
