Industrial Hygiene Workshop: Practical learning for occupational risk management
Last Saturday, a valuable field activity was carried out at the facilities of Veneto B and its surroundings, as an essential part of the training of students of the Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health from UMECIT. Under the guidance of Professor Gilberto Garrido, the purpose of the day was to strengthen the technical skills of future professionals through the direct use of fundamental equipment in the area of Occupational Hygiene. The practice allowed students to become familiar with key instruments for the risk assessment, such as the sound level meter, used to measure sound pressure levels and to detect potential sources of noise pollution, and the lux meter, a tool indispensable for determining the light intensity in different workstations and Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. During the activity, participants organized themselves into groups to take measurements. systematic measurements were taken at predefined points. Using a sound level meter, they recorded levels of noise in operational areas, transit zones and external perimeters; while with the Lux meters were used to evaluate the lighting in offices, workshops, and hallways. These analyses allowed reflect on the importance of a safe work environment, preventing eye strain and promote suitable ergonomic conditions. This type of practical experience reinforces the comprehensive training that characterizes UMECIT, by linking theory with the reality of the work environment and preparing students to to face the challenges of preventive management in the workplace with greater confidence.
