Multidisciplinary Consultation Simulation: Comprehensive Care for Patients with Cancer

The next October 26, 2024, he Veneto A conference hall will be the scene of a multidisciplinary consultation simulation, entitled «Multidisciplinary Care for Patients with Cancer». This event, which will begin at 8:00 am, is designed for students from different health disciplines to play key roles in the comprehensive management of a complex clinical case of cancer. The main objective is to promote teamwork and a holistic approach in cancer treatment, from diagnosis to patient follow-up.

The simulation will recreate the clinical case of a patient with advanced-stage cancer, with students taking on the role of different health professionals, facing clinical and administrative situations. This will include coordinating diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, rehabilitation and emotional support.

Disciplines and Roles Involved:

  1. Physiotherapy: Will evaluate the patient's physical condition, focusing on the recovery of mobility and pain control.
  2. Radiology: It will detect and monitor the progression of cancer through imaging studies.
  3. Psychology: Will offer emotional support to the patient and their family, helping them cope with the diagnosis and treatment.
  4. Occupational Safety and Health: It will evaluate the occupational risks that may have contributed to the development of the disease and propose strategies for job reintegration.
  5. Medical Records and Health Statistics: It will ensure the proper management of clinical information and the analysis of epidemiological data.
  6. Health Promotion: It will develop awareness campaigns for cancer prevention and the promotion of healthy habits.

Simulation Dynamics:

  • Clinical Case Presentation: The patient's medical history and the evolution of his or her illness will be detailed.
  • Intervention by Areas:Each discipline will present its approach to case management, from assessment to treatment and rehabilitation.
  • Discussion and Feedback: A debate will be generated about teamwork and the decisions made in each phase of the clinical case.

This simulation provides a valuable hands-on learning opportunity, allowing students to experience a real-life case in a controlled environment, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and preparing them for the challenges of the professional field.
