Umecit – University in Panama

Psychology Week and its impact from UMECIT

Psychology Week represents an academic, educational, and humane space that recognizes the importance of mental health, comprehensive well-being, and the fundamental role that psychology professionals play in society. This commemoration highlights the discipline's advances, challenges, and areas of application, as well as fosters critical thinking, social sensitivity, and ethical commitment in the training of future psychologists.

UMECIT, committed to comprehensive and contextualized education, has transformed this week into a vibrant platform for meeting academia, the community, and professional practice. Through activities such as forums, workshops, presentations, mental health fairs, community interventions, and interdisciplinary projects, the institution has not only strengthened its students' graduation profile but also positively impacted local communities through an ethical and transformative approach.

This initiative demonstrates UMECIT's commitment to training socially responsible psychologists, prepared to address contemporary mental health challenges in Panama and the region. It confirms that psychology, more than a science, is also a tool for social construction, resilience, and hope.
