In a significant and emotional event, our University celebrated the awarding of the prestigious Kalos Virtual Iberoamerica Seal to the Doctorate in Education Sciences.
The event was attended by doctoral students from Ecuador, academic and administrative authorities, and the research team of our University. During the ceremony, Dr. María del Carmen Terrientes de Benavides, president of RIACES and Executive Secretary of the National Council for Evaluation and University Accreditation of Panama (CONEAUPA), said: “The Kalos Seal is not simply an award, it is a testimony of the continuous effort to transform education. It represents our vision of an education that goes beyond the transmission of knowledge, which comprehensively trains people. By awarding this seal, we not only recognize past achievements, but we also inspire to continue improving and to continue being a model of transformative education.”
For his part, the rector, Dr. José Alberto Nieto Rojas, highlighted the importance of the recognition, stating that: “This is the first Kalos Seal awarded to a program in Panama, and we receive it with pride and gratitude, because it reflects UMECIT's commitment to quality and academic innovation. We feel blessed and motivated to continue working to bring education to unthinkable places, addressing the educational needs not only of Panama, but also of sister countries such as Ecuador and Colombia.”
