The comprehensive health promotion program led by the University Wellness Coordination in conjunction with the UMECIT Health Sciences Coordination is a very important initiative that seeks to raise awareness in the Umecit community about the importance of maintaining a healthy diet and preventing obesity.
On April 20, in commemoration of the National Day for the Prevention of Obesity and Good Eating Habits, the a conversation with experts in healthy eating such as Bethy Cruzado, this being an excellent strategy to disseminate relevant and useful information in the prevention of nutrition-related diseases, and promote healthy eating habits in the university community.
The prevention of obesity and the promotion of healthy eating habits are of great importance, since obesity is a risk factor for many chronic diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, arterial hypertension, among others. Therefore, promoting healthy eating habits in the university community can significantly contribute to improving the lifestyle of all university students and staff, and thus, prevent the appearance of nutrition-related diseases.
UMECIT promotes this type of initiative taking into account that education and health promotion are key to improving the quality of life of the community in general.
