The Claudia Marcela Rueda Auditorium was the setting for an enriching discussion that brought together journalists and students of Social Communication, Audiovisual Production and Graphic Design, under the title «Journalism in the Digital Age: Changes and Challenges in Social Communication.»
One of the main guests was José Alberto Cárdenas, a Colombian journalist with 35 years of experience in radio and press, who shared his experience from the Externado University of Colombia. Cárdenas delved into how he has adapted his professional practice to new digital platforms, highlighting the constant need to reinvent himself to remain relevant in the fast-paced world of the media.
From Panama, investigative journalist Mary Triny Zea provided her valuable perspective. Winner of multiple press competitions, Zea collaborates with renowned international media such as New York Times and Americas Quarterly, providing political and economic analysis. His presentation served as inspiration for the students, who were able to learn about his rigorous approach to investigative journalism.
The discussion also included the participation of Cristian Robles, a dynamic communicator with experience in radio, YouTuber, content creator and announcer. Robles has worked as a public relations officer for NGOs and shared his passion for marketing and new ways of communicating through digital platforms.
Not only did this space facilitate an intergenerational dialogue, but it also provided a unique opportunity for journalists to share their experiences and provide students with practical advice on navigating and thriving in the digital age.
