November is a month of pride and reflection for all Panamanians, as it allows us to honor our national identity and remember the historic moments that have defined us as a nation. Each of the dates we celebrate represents a vital page in the history of Panama, forged with the effort, courage and unbreakable spirit of its people. The Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology -UMECIT- joins this tribute to the homeland and recognizes the value of these events that continue to illuminate our horizon.
The November 3rd We proudly celebrate the anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Panama. This day in 1903 marked our separation from Colombia and the beginning of a path as an independent nation. Thanks to the tenacity of its heroes and the aspiration for a free future, Panama achieved the sovereignty we enjoy today.
The next day, the November 4thWe honor the symbols of our country: the flag, the coat of arms and the national anthem. These emblems represent us and unite us, reminding us of the greatness of the Panamanian identity and the respect we owe to those who have made Panama a proud and sovereign country.
November 5thWe remember the consolidation of our independence in the city of Colón. This decisive day ensured the triumph of the separation in this region and was a testimony to the commitment of all Panamanians to the dream of freedom.
The November 10th We commemorate the first cry for independence in La Villa de los Santos, an event that, in 1821, marked the beginning of the emancipation movement against Spanish rule. Led by heroic figures such as Rufina Alfaro, this cry for freedom ignited the desire for independence that finally culminated in the November 28th with the independence of Panama from Spain, after three centuries of colonial life.
On these dates, UMECIT extends a fraternal greeting to the entire nation, inviting the community to celebrate with patriotism and to honor our beloved homeland with responsibility and civic spirit. May this month inspire us to continue building a dignified and prosperous Panama for future generations.
