ISAE University held the enriching conversation titled “Participatory Democracy: The Fundamental Challenge of Our Generation” as part of the “Your Vote, Your Choice” campaign.
The event brought together prominent figures from the legal, political and social sphere, including Mgtr. Jorge Chang, former Public Defender of the Accusatory Criminal System; the Mgtr. Itzel Chen, former Ambassador of Panama to Thailand; and the Atty. Yair Velásquez, co-founder of the Kasanga project.
The Rector of ISAE University, Dr. Gustavo Mizraim González, extended a welcome greeting and expressed his gratitude to the attendees, highlighting the importance of electoral education. During the event, crucial topics were discussed such as making conscious decisions when voting, the criteria for selecting candidates and the functions of elected officials, fundamental aspects to strengthen participation in the democratic process.
Panama longs for a favorable electoral climate and, therefore, the presence and interest of all participants in this significant dialogue is appreciated. During the event, the crucial role of justice in promoting participatory democracy, the imperative need for youth participation in the electoral process and strategies to motivate youth to actively engage in politics were explored.
The Mgtr. Jorge Chang emphasized the fundamental role of justice in guaranteeing equal rights and opportunities for all, Mgtr. Itzel Chen highlighted the vital importance of the participation of young people in the future of democracy, as those who will inherit the country; while Mr. Yair Velásquez mentioned the relevance of using technological tools and creating spaces for dialogue so that young people feel heard and can actively participate in politics.
With this enriching conversation, ISAE Universidad, in collaboration with the OTEIMA Technological University, the Universidad del Istmo and the Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology (UMECIT), has taken a significant step in promoting citizen participation and strengthening democracy in Panama.
With the presence of physical therapy professionals, services such as musculoskeletal evaluations, physical therapy, injury prevention advice and rehabilitation exercises were offered. This was especially helpful for athletes dealing with injuries or strains due to playing sports.
On the other hand, the participation of experts in occupational safety and health was very timely for the protection and well-being of the participants in the workplace.
The event included informative talks on ergonomics, accident prevention accidents, safe handling of equipment and substances, as well as tips to promote a safe and healthy work environment in sports clubs and among collaborators and administrators.
