First International Forum on Law and Forensic Sciences at UMECIT David Campus

UMECIT David's headquarters held, on November 7th, the Second International Forum on Law and Forensic Sciences, an academic space designed to promote the exchange of knowledge, professional development and reflection on scientific advances applied to criminal investigation.

The day began with the opening remarks of Dr. Magdy De las Salas, Director of Research and Innovationwho highlighted the importance of analyzing and debating topics that directly impact the training of future professionals in Law, Political Science, Criminalistics, and Forensic Science. She also emphasized the need to promote critical thinking, a comprehensive perspective, and knowledge transfer as fundamental pillars of our educational model.

The Dr. Sindy OrtizThe professor of the Criminalistics training programs highlighted the importance of motivating students to maintain solid objectives during their training process, as well as the relevance of constant academic support.

The event brought together national and international specialists, teachers, students and professionals in the field, who participated in keynote lectures aimed at strengthening technical and analytical capabilities in the forensic field.
Among the topics addressed during the forum, the following stood out:

  • Model of Forensic Science: The challenges of frugal criminalistics, a future role for sustainable and quality forensic action.
    Dr. Waldo Esteban Adonis Rojas – Chile

  • Are serial killers born or made? An interview with Gravito, a Colombian serial killer.
    Dr. José Luis Pérez – Mexico

  • Forensic toxicology: unconventional matrices and analytical techniques.
    Master Alexie Brenes Tejada – Panama

  • Development of latent fingerprints on shell casings and bullets.
    Dr. Sean Vásquez – Mexico

  • The before, during and after of the intervention at the scene of the events and the chemiluminescence.
    Master Irvin Castro – Panama

  • Scientific principles of criminalistics.
    Master Wilber J. Torres – Peru

We especially appreciate the valuable work of Dr. Sindy Ortiz, whose commitment was fundamental to the realization of this forum.

This event was part of the activities of the Law and Criminalistics Research Network (REDYC), reaffirming UMECIT's institutional commitment to continuing education, research and academic excellence in the forensic field.
