Academic Tour to Colón: Interdisciplinary Learning from the Territory

A group of UMECIT students participated in an academic tour to the province of Colón, where they explored Isla Venas Azules, Playa Blanca, and the La Huerta area. This experience provided direct exposure to the region's unique geographic, natural, cultural, and tourist attractions, linked to areas such as physical activity, sports, cultural heritage, and sustainable development.

The day's activities were conducted using an interdisciplinary approach that fostered critical observation, landscape analysis, the study of environmental behavior, and an understanding of the sociocultural context of Colón. These activities significantly enriched the students' academic and professional perspectives by allowing them to connect theoretical learning with real-world experiences in their environment.

Integrated Training: English, Spanish, Physical Activity and Environmental Awareness

The teachers in charge —Elizabeth Delgado Mendoza (English), Eneida Reyes (Spanish) and Alejandro Contreras (English)— accompanied the students of the Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education and Personal Training, English I, in an experience that combined the development of communicative skills in English and Spanish with physical activities and environmental awareness exercises.

The students generated narratives, descriptions, analyses, and personal reflections that demonstrate the learning acquired from a critical, interdisciplinary, and contextualized perspective, integrating culture, language, sport, and sustainability.

Institutional Commitment

The Faculty of Humanities and Educational Sciences reaffirms its commitment to creating enriching academic spaces that strengthen comprehensive learning, foster collaborative work, and promote in students a broad, critical vision connected to the cultural, social, and environmental reality of the country.

We continue to promote an education that transforms, inspires, and connects our students with their environment!
