The Metropolitan University of Education, Science and Technology (UMECIT) continues to strengthen the research competencies of its academic community through valuable experiences in scientific spaces. Recently, we were invited by the Ministry of the Environment (Mi Ambiente) to participate in the Scientific Forum "Shared Spaces: Creating Cities with Birds," an event that addressed key topics for the conservation and sustainable development of our urban environments.
The event, held in Sarigua National Park, brought together researchers, specialists, and representatives from various institutions to reflect on bird diversity, the threats they face in marine and coastal regions, and the influence of birds on socio-environmental balance.
Representing the UMECIT Chitré headquarters, the researcher César Tovar actively participated in this event, strengthening key aspects related to his study called: “Socio-environmental impacts of the El Retén and El Agallito communities on the migratory bird route”The participation of our researcher reaffirms UMECIT's commitment to generating relevant knowledge and finding solutions that contribute to environmental sustainability.
From UMECIT, we extend our gratitude to Mi Ambiente for the invitation and the opportunity to contribute, learn, and share in spaces for scientific dialogue.
