Last Tuesday, April 22, students of the career of UMECIT Occupational Health and Safety participated in an enriching academic tour to the Construction Project for the Fourth Bridge over the Panama Canal, considered one of the most ambitious and significant infrastructure projects in the country. This training activity was coordinated by the University Agreements Department and was developed under the supervision of the team of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) of the Fourth Bridge Consortium.
The central purpose of this visit was strengthen practical knowledge of students through the direct observation of security measures implemented in a high-risk megaproject. The experience allowed the integration of classroom theory with the real-world demands of the workplace, providing an invaluable opportunity for the professional development of future occupational safety experts.

One of the highlights of the tour was the direct exchange with the project's HSE area professionals, who shared with the students their experience and knowledge about the Operating protocols, technological tools, and everyday challenges which involves ensuring safe working conditions in a technical and regulated context.
In addition, an open dialogue space was created in which students could ask questions, express their concerns, and share their thoughts on the implementation of safety management systems on large-scale projects. These types of activities reinforce not only technical training but also students' critical thinking and ethical commitment to their professional practice.
