Occupational Health and Safety students strengthen their training with academic practice at Petroport Panama

Students of the Occupational Health and Safety course at UMECIT carried out an enriching academic internship at the company Panama Petroport, located in the province of Colón. This experience allowed them to learn first-hand about the industrial safety standards applied in the hydrocarbon storage and distribution sector.

During the visit, they were received with great cordiality by the company's staff, who provided a detailed induction on Safety protocols, current regulations and emergency procedures. Under the supervision of the teacher Dennise Ortega, responsible for the subject Risk factor's, the students toured the company's operational areas, identifying and analyzing risks associated with the handling of flammable substances, the use of personal protective equipment and the prevention of accidents.

In addition, they interacted with industrial safety specialists, who shared key strategies to mitigate the dangers in this type of work environment. This academic practice was a valuable opportunity to strengthen their theoretical knowledge with field observation and analysis, providing them with essential tools for their professional performance.
